The development of the Chinese float glass technology can be dated back to the mid 60's. The first float line went  into stream in 1971 without any foreign assistance. Since then, about 80 float lines have been erected using the Chinese technology. These lines' daily outputs range from 100 t to 700 t. Glass thickness up to 25 mm and down to 2 mm are now in regular production. And even thicker or thinner glass can be made where there is a market requirement.

The JGE float glass technology enables independent companies entering the float glass industry without any licensing fees and other limitations. Since the machinery/materials are available in open market, Investment on float lines can be reduced significantly.
